Admissions

At the point of acceptance into the College, a prospective learner is required to sit a placement test. This is not an ‘entrance test’. It is an evaluation of English and Mathematical proficiency to confirm whether the learner is able to manage the work covered by the rest of the group.

Fees are payable quarterly in advance and will be invoiced quarterly, using the monthly rate as published. The discount for quarterly settlement will apply to the receipt of fees paid no later than the first Friday of the term, either by direct deposit to the school’s bank account, or at the Bookkeeper’s office. Parents who wish to commence, or continue, with monthly payments of fees are reminded that these are due, in advance, by the 1st of each month [or the first day of term in respect of January’s payment]. In all cases parents are requested to confirm their choice of payment method with the Finance Office, as this will obviate misunderstandings. Cheque payments may be made between 07:15 and 08:15. No cash can be accepted at the school.

A refundable book deposit is payable on registration. In the event of a child losing or damaging a book, or recklessly causing damage to school property, the cost of the replacements and/or repair will be charged to your account. Where such damage occurs after the closure of school accounts the cost will be offset against the deposit and only the balance refunded.

Fees for extras such as sports tours, field trips, school magazine, educational workshops/presentations and lunches will be reflected on each term’s statement.

School trips are compulsory for Grades 5 and 6. These tours are to carefully selected venues where pupils will sleep over for three or four nights. Pupils take part in a variety of teambuilding and leadership activities which are assessed by both the facilitators and the staff accompanying the tour. Pupils and parents are required to sign a behaviour contract confirming that they understand the rules to be obeyed during the trip. Parents will be required to collect pupils who do not adhere to the contract they have signed.

Funds are set aside to award bursaries to deserving pupils whose parents are experiencing difficult financial circumstances. Any parent may approach the Bursary Committee by completing the necessary forms (available at the Principal’s office), as long as the child:

• maintains a satisfactory academic record,
• is a consistent, diligent student,
• shows exemplary behaviour, attitude and complies with the spirit of the school rules,
• is willingly and positively involved in school activities,
• has parents who are actively involved in the school community.

The school fee account of the parent must be kept up to date while awaiting a response to the application.

Aftercare is provided for Gr. 00 – Gr. 6. Fees are indicated on the fee structure insert.

The aftercare supervisor is on duty until 17:00. Parents making use of the aftercare service must therefore pick their children up by no later than 17:00, and 12:00 on the last day of a term. A levy of R50-00 over and above the normal fee, per 15 minutes or part thereof is charged for late collection of a child.

The normal fee is levied from the end of extra-curricular activities, if a child is taking part in such activities. Where a child does not participate in extra-curricular activities, aftercare fees are charged from 13:15.
