Sport
Sport is a fundamental part of the school philosophy and is well established within the Primary school phase of the school. In particular Soccer, Swimming, Athletics and Cricket are popular and successful sports. The school attains regular provincial representation in these sports.
The High School phase is young and developing but shows plenty of promise for the years ahead.
Sport is included in the curriculum twice a week and is presently compulsory for learners from Grade 3 upwards. All learners participate giving equal opportunity and experience to everyone.
Sports on offer from term to term are as follows:
Term 1: Athletics/Swimming/Cricket
Term 2: Netball, Soccer, Hockey, Jnr Rugby
Term 3: Cricket, Hockey, Tennis
Term 4: Swimming & Athletics
Many learners also participate in externally offered sport such as horse riding, golf and karate.
Interhouse Sports Days:
These are compulsory School events and take place during that sport’s season. All pupils are given an opportunity to take part in Interhouse events or the events prior to the Interhouse.
• Athletics: The house teams are selected at the Colour Sports prior to Interhouse.
• Swimming: A Chocolate Gala is held prior to Interhouse where all pupils, including those who cannot swim and who use swimming aids, participate and earn a chocolate.
• In the other sports all pupils participate in the Interhouse event.
A list of sporting fixtures for the term is handed out at the beginning of each term or as soon as available. Letters are given to pupils with times, venues and kit needed prior to each fixture which must be signed by parents and returned to the coach by the prescribed date. These fixtures are subject to change, but the pupils will be notified of any changes. No pupil will be permitted to play unless wearing the prescribed uniform and the permission slip has been signed and returned.
