About the Intermediate Phase

The IP is a special place where the goal is to make every child feel welcome and safe. We believe that children learn best when they feel secure, and our teachers and students are all involved in making sure that this happens. We firmly uphold the school’s values, and believe that every child has the ability to succeed through determination, hard work and grit.

The children in the IP follow a curriculum that is based on CAPS as a minimum, but is enriched with the development of critical thinking skills and creative learning. We believe that a child’s education should be holistic, and thus offer not only a superior academic programme, but also a compulsory sports programme, as well as a range of cultural activities. We also offer experiential learning through integrated projects, and Science competitions, as well as excursions and the much-anticipated annual tours, where children develop their leadership and problem-solving skills.

Our Learner Support Programme offers organisational and study skills to our grades 4 – 6 learners, and our I.T curriculum aims to equip our grades 4 to 7 learners with the necessary technological skills to be successful in high school.

Our Council System ensures that each and every grade 7 child gets the opportunity to demonstrate his or her leadership, communication, and collaboration skills before prefects are chosen for the final term. Our councils include:

  • Deportment Council
  • Eco Council
  • Community Council
  • Assembly Council
